SCG Tour Online - Satellite #2

Satellites are open events on select Fridays and Saturdays where players can earn an invitation to that Sunday’s $5K Strixhaven Championship Qualifier, up to two (2) byes in that event, and invitations to the following month’s MTG Arena Qualifier Weekend.

How it Works

Play in SCG Tour Online Satellite events on MTG Arena to earn an invitation, and up to a two-round bye, for the next $5k Strixhaven Championship Qualifier!

All players with twelve (12) or more match points in a Satellite qualify directly for Sunday's SCG Tour Online $5k Strixhaven Championship Qualifier with an opportunity to win a share of $5,000 in cash, hundreds of thousands of MTG Arena Gems, and an invitation to Wizards of the Coast’s Strixhaven Championship!

All players with fifteen (15) or more match points in a Satellite will also earn an invitation to next months's MTG Arena Qualifier Weekend.

All players with three (3) or more match points in a Satellite receive SCG Tour Online Points towards qualification and byes for Sunday's SCG Tour Online $5k the Strixhaven Championship Qualifier.

Registration:

  • Registration for all SCG Tour Online Satellite events will close 10 minutes prior to each event.
  • No late registrations will be allowed.
  • Players must have a verified Discord account to register.
  • Players are expected to have joined, and to be available on, the SCG Tour Online Discord during SCG Tour Satellite events.

SCG Tour Online Satellite Event Structure:

  • Six (6) rounds of modified Swiss
  • Players are required to check-in prior to the start of the event.
  • Players are eliminated from the event once they have three losses.

Decklists

  • Decklists are due 5 minutes before the start of the first round.
  • Failure to submit a decklist on time will result in Tardiness penalties.
  • SCG Tour Online events have open decklists.
  • Each round, both player's decklists will be available for reference in the MTGMelee Player Controller.

Pairings

  • Players are solely responsible for receiving their pairings and conducting their matches in a timely manner.
  • Pairings will be announced in the tournament channel of the SCG Tour Online Discord and will be available in the Player Controller.
  • SMS pairings notification is available through MTG Melee for select countries. To set this up, go to Settings>> Account enter your phone number and check the "Send SMS Pairings" box.
  • Each round, your MTGMelee Player Controller will update to display your current pairing.
  • Players are required to "Check-in" to every round. Simply click the green button in your Player Controller to check-in to your match.

Matches

  • Each round will be fifty (50) minutes including five (5) minutes to check-in and begin your match.
  • Fifteen (15) minutes after a round is paired, if a player has not communicated with their opponent or a tournament admin that player will lose the current round and be dropped from the event.
  • Once you have received your pairing, use the Direct Challenge feature in MTG Arena (Crossed Swords in the top right) to challenge your opponent. Set up your match by selecting "Tournament Match", entering your opponent’s Direct Challenge ID (include the hashtag and five-digit number), and selecting the deck you've registered.
  • Remember that MTG Arena user names are case sensitive.
  • Match results should be entered in your Player Controller.
  • At the conclusion of your match, it is recommended that you take a screen shot of your match result screen.
  • If there are any discrepancies in the match results, an admin may ask you for the match result screen shot as proof of your result.
  • There are no draws in SCG Tour Online events.
  • If a player's MTG Arena timer reaches 0:00, that player loses the match.

Eligibilty:

  • SCG Tour Online Satellite Qualifiers are open to players eighteen years of age and older.
  • Players must have accounts in good standing on MTG Arena, MTG Melee and Star City Games.
  • Players must not be currently suspended from participating in/on tabletop Magic: The Gathering events, SCG Tour Online events and/or tabletop SCG Tour event
  • Regional eligibility restrictions also apply, void where prohibited.

Miscellaneous

  • Players are fully and solely responsible for the presence and stability of an internet connection as well as for the stability of the system running MTG Arena.
  • Any types of connection issue, bugs, anything related to your game crashing/not functioning properly is the sole responsibility of the player and will not result in restarting the match.
  • Players should be aware of known issues in MTG Arena.
  • Players are expected to have joined, and to be active on, the SCG Tour Online Discord during SCG Tour Satellite events.

SCG Tour Online Points accumulated during each weekend will reset following each SCG Tour Online $5K Championship Qualifier.

In the event that there is a dispute between players, a tournament admin may ask for a screenshot or for you to share your screen on the SCG Tour Online Discord to better understand the situation or as a way to confirm that something is occurring. We highly-recommend that players take a screenshot of each "Victory" screen showing both players’ names. In the event of a results discrepancy, you may be asked to provide this as proof.
