What is Constructed Set Roulette?
The same Set Roulette you loved by the Mythic Society - still run by GoblinCredible, just now under GoblinCredible Gaming!
The Constructed Set Roulette format was originally created by Pascal Maynard and his local friends with the intent of maximizing and showcasing players deckbuilding skills. Because of today's information traveling so fast thanks to the internet and the amount of games that are played in relevant formats, we've been having the feeling that Magic's deckbuilding aspect is not like it used to be.
We came up with the idea of determining at random 2 Big Expansions, 3 Small Expansions and a Core Set to become the constructed format that we would all play on an upcoming weekend. It was an absolute blast to brew for a few days and gather and play to see who came up with what. Imagine doing that online with TONS of players!
The rules will be modified slightly, to fit the space of MTG Arena. 6 Sets will be picked at random, and NO BANS will be made. We will still roll 1 Core Set, 2 Big Sets and 3 Small Sets. Each category of sets will reset when each selecton in the category has been chosen. (Since there's only 3 core sets, they will reset after 3 months)
For the purposes of choosing sets, the following rules will apply:
1) Arena Rebalanced cards are playable. You may use ONLY the original version OR the rebalanced version. No mixture of the two, and only up to 4 copies as usual.
2) Arena Base Set cards are USABLE EVERY MONTH.
3) Some special sets are included as small sets (Eg. Mystical Archive and Retro
Artifacts - Base set is included every month just in case a special set is chosen.)
4) No more than one special set can be rolled per month (Eg. Mystical Archive and Retro Artifacts cannot be legal at the same time)
5) Explorer Anthology 1+2, PLUS Historic Anthology 1-6 are combined to make a SMALL SET which will serve as our "Masters Edition" power set for now.
6) Alchemy: The Brother's War, Dominaria, New Capenna, Kamigawa and Innistrad are combined to make another small set.
I will post on my social media when the expansions are (being) chosen, see Goblin's LinkTree for the links. Post will be made on Discord.
Set Roulette: Arena Edition will be 3-weeks after roll off. We chose this period of time rather than 1 week (and another Set Roulette event is run at the 2-week mark) to allow players to do a light amount of grinding if necessary to acquire some wild cards. We realize the card acquisition method for Arena can be tedious/expensive, so we're trying to respect that.

- In the event that there is a dispute between players, we may ask for a screenshot in order to better understand a situation, or as a way to have proof that something is occurring.
