Welcome to the third Spellslinger Syndicate MTG Arena tournament - Explorer. The tournament has a cash entry awarding the top 8 with cash prizes with an option to switch out the cash prize for boosters. Because we are a non-profit club, all entry fees taken that exceed the costs involved with the tournament will contribute towards prize support.
This event will take place over several days (number of days dependent on turnout) to allow for more players to participate despite load shedding.
Tournament registration is due by 10 pm on Friday 16th December 2022.
Tournament begins at 8 am on Saturday 17th December 2022 (flexible time - schedule your match with your opponent for any time that day).
Please refer to the Digital Infraction Procedure Guide for comprehensive information. Highlights include:
- Players who have not responded to their opponent or a tournament official within ten minutes of a round starting will receive a match loss and be dropped from the tournament. [this is not relevant for this tournament as rounds have been extended to take an entire day]
- "Stream sniping" results in a match loss.
- Disconnects that result in a player losing a game will be treated as game losses. If this does not result in a Best-of-Three match score (e.g. a player disconnects in game 1 and loses this game as a result), the match will need to be restarted with players forfeiting to match the score obtained up to this point.
- If a player disconnects and does not reconnect within 10 minutes, they forfeit the match.
As always, please be respectful of your fellow players and tournament officials. Discrimination of any form will not be tolerated.
Each round, one match will be selected for streaming. One of the participants will be asked to join the Spellslinger Syndicate Discord server and stream their match (which will be streamed with a delay). A player reserves the right to decline this, though top 8 matches in particular are encouraged to be streamed.
Personal game recordings are encouraged in the event that a dispute arises.
Registration is to be completed by 10 pm on Friday 16th December 2022. The tournament begins at 8 am on Saturday 17th December 2022.
The tournament will have a number of rounds dependent on the turnout for the Swiss portion, followed by a cut to the top 8. Matches for the Swiss are to be played in Tournament Mode where possible, unless instructed otherwise by a tournament official. Matches for top 8 will be played in Challenge Mode.
Due to the cash nature of some of the prizes, please note that there is an age restriction on this tournament of at least 18 years of age.
If any of the rules are not followed, we reserve the right to withhold prizes until such point that this has been corrected or another agreement can be made.
