Drafting Format + MTGMelee
You must join my Discord server for communication. It is very hard to contact people on multiple platforms and sometimes MTGMelee chat is unavailable.
Discord
This is a draft event where we will draft outside of MTG Arena, then use the decks we drafted in-game. YOU MUST HAVE WILDCARDS AVAILABLE for any cards that you do not own in MTGArena.
For example, we draft on the Heroku App. You pull a Shivan Dragon in pack one. You don't actually own a Shivan Dragon in MTGArena. If you don't own any Shivan Dragon's (or proper wildcards to trade in) on MTG Arena, you can still play, but you can't replace that card.
A draft log is generated to track all players picks to prevent cheating.
If you draft and then realize you do not own enough cards/wildcards, you will be dropped from the event.
Unfortunately, refunds on subscription entries are not possible, so please be sure when signing up.
Matches
Everything happens in your "Player Controller" page.
Pairings will be announced in the form of a notification, voice notification, SMS notification (if you activate it in your profile settings) and your player controller page will display your pairing in the "Current Pairing" section.
- You must click the green button to check-in to your match.
- Your opponent's decklist will display in the bottom left corner.
- Challenge your opponent using the MTG Arena screen name displayed and the MTG Arena "LIMITED TOURNAMENT MATCH" challenge option.
- Submit your Match result. (Intentional draws not allowed)
In-Match Rules
You will have 10 minutes to check-in and start your matches. You will be dropped if you don't start communicating with an admin. or your opponent 10 minutes after round is paired. Pay attention to all notifications throughout the tournament.
Any types of connection issue, bugs, anything related to your game crashing/not functioning properly will not result in restarting the match. If you get disconnected, you will recieve a game loss. Unfortunately, the only fair way to deal with these issues is to penalize the disconnected player.
Players should be aware of known issues in MTG Arena.
Refer to the Digital Tournament Rules and Digital Infraction Guide for more information.
Communication
Issues with MTGMelee or your match? Contact us via our Discord server!
In the event that there is a dispute between players, we may ask for a screenshot in order to better understand a situation, or as a way to have proof that something is occurring. We also highly-recommend that you take a screenshot of every "Victory" screen when playing in a tournament, showing both players’ names; in the event of a dispute over which player won a match, these screenshots will generally act as concrete-proof of a victory.
Schedule
The Tournament will begin on March 2nd, with the following schedule in Eastern Standard Time (EST):
- Registrations closes 5 minutes before the start of the tournament.
- All players MUST check-in at any time before 6:25 PM
- Round 1: Will start directly after the drafting process
- Following rounds will be approximately 30-45 mins after one another
- 3 rounds of swiss, no cross-pod-play
Prizes
WINNER TAKE ALL PODS!
BONUS ROUND: "The Goblin Game"
TL;DR - it's modified double-or-nothing.
Just to spice things up a little bit (especially if there's coverage!) the winner of a pod may choose to play the BONUS ROUND.
If there are 2 pods, the BONUS round will be offered to each winner. DOUBLE OR NOTHING. Win, you get $50 and steal the opponent's $25. Lose, and you get NOTHING.
Remember, they drafted in a different pod! You're completely in the dark, but be careful, info travels fast and people chat!
If the winner of either pod disagrees, the Goblin Game will be offered to the 2nd ranked player in a pod (of a willing winner).
In the event a 2nd place player beats a 1st place player in the Goblin Game, the original winner leaves with ZERO, and the Goblin Game winner now gets $25.
