Tournament Structure

  • Format: HISTORIC, Best of 3 (Traditional Play), Open decklist
  • Swiss (Based on attendance, maximum 6 rounds)
  • Using MTG Arena "CHALLENGE MATCH" challenge option*
  • 64-Player Cap

*CHALLENGE MATCH -> DECK TYPE: 60 CARDS -> FORMAT: BEST OF THREE -> COIN FLIP


Prizes

200$ total assuming 64-players. Based on record at the end of the tournament.

If you get a draw, you're out of prizes, please play fast and be mindful of the 40 minute clock of the tournament!

Schedule

The Tournament will begin on March 21st, with the following schedule in Eastern Time (EDT):

  • Registrations closes 10 minutes before the start of the tournament.
  • All players MUST check-in at any time before 1:00 PM
  • Round 1: 1:00 PM
  • Following rounds approximately 40 mins after one another
  • Number of rounds based on number of players, it will be announced before Round 1
  • End time: Approximately 5:00 PM (Based on previous tournaments held, always subject to differ)

Decklists

  • You will have until 1:00 PM March 21st to submit your decklist, if you fail to do so, you will be dropped from the tournament.
  • Submit your decklist using the player controller page.
  • Your decklist must be in ENGLISH.
  • Decklists will be public at the start of the tournament.

Matches

Everything happens in your "Player Controller" page.

Pairings will be announced in the form of a notification, voice notification, SMS notification (if you activate it in your profile settings) and your player controller page will display your pairing in the "Current Pairing" section.

  1. You must click the green button to check-in to your match.
  2. Your opponents decklist will display in the bottom left corner.
  3. Challenge your opponent using the MTG Arena screen name displayed and the MTG Arena "CHALLENGE MATCH, DECK TYPE: 60 CARDS, FORMAT: BEST OF THREE, COIN FLIP" challenge option.
  4. Because MTGA Historic challenge matches don't allow timers, there will be a 40 minute clock to the tournament. At the end of the 40 minutes, matchs not reported will be reported as draws and a draw means out of the prizes (as stated in prizes section).
  5. Submit your Match result. (Intentional draws not allowed)

In-Match Rules

  • You will have 10 minutes to check-in and start your matches. You will be dropped if you don't start communicating with an admin or your opponent 10 minutes after round is paired. Pay attention to all notifications throughout the tournament.

  • Any types of connection issue, bugs, anything related to your game crashing/not functioning properly will not result in restarting the match. If it happens to you and only you, it is your fault, it is unfortunately the only to deal with this in a fair way. Anything else will be dealt with in a civilized and fair fashion.

  • Because MTGA Historic challenge matches don't allow timers, there will be a 40 minute clock to the tournament. At the end of the 40 minutes, matchs not reported will be reported as draws and a draw means out of the prizes (as stated in prizes section). The timer will start 5 minutes after the round is paired.

  • Problem with your match? Talk an admin using the chat tab in the bottom right corner.
  • Issues with MTGMelee? Contact us via our Discord server as a last resort!
